SunStrom Europe

SunStrom Europe (legal form: GmbH), located in Dresden, Germany, specializes in photovoltaic systems (PV). Photovoltaic systems generate electricity from harvested sunlight and make a significant contribution in reducing CO2 emissions. We are your competent partner for designing and installing photovoltaic systems of all types and sizes, helping you to make a difference in the environment.

Implementing renewable energy resources is no longer an alternative, but rather a necessity for a responsible approach to our environment.  With our services, concentrating on the design and installation of photovoltaic power plants and systems in all types and sizes, our goal is to serve you and the environment - today and in the future.

First SunStrom Solar Power System within the USA

SunStrom has completed the installation of its first photovoltaic solar power system within the United States at the Clark County Event Center in Ridgefield, Washington. The rooftop PV system was installed at the Clark County Event Center, a large exhibition hall and event center located at the Clark County Fairgrounds. It has a total DC nameplate rating of 23 kWp and consists of 118 monocrystalline photovoltaic solar modules manufactured by SOLARWATT. The project will generate approximately 20,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, with the electricity being consumed at the Event Center through a net metering program with the local utility company. A digital display located at the entrance to the Event Center provides information about the plant in order that visitors to the Event Center and the Fairgrounds can view information about the plant including real-time electricity production, total energy yield, and total greenhouse gas savings data.

Award for SunStrom: Plaque of the 2011 German Solar Prize for "The Self-Sufficient Energy House"

Along with its project partners – Sunstrom GmbH, the honorary professor Timo Leukefeld as well as ACX GmbH – Helma Eigenheimbau AG, with its energy-independent building, has won the coveted plaque of the European Association of Renewable Energies (EUROSOLAR e.V.).
The first affordable and truly energy-independent building in Europe does without a public mains connection. This means that the residents have no expenses for oil, gas or power and are completely independent of energy suppliers as a result. As a completely functional prototype, "the self-sufficient energy house" is located in Europe's ultra-modern model home park for energy saving homes in Lehrte, Lower Saxony.

Reiner Matthees and Stephan Riedel, the general managers of SunStrom, are particularly pleased about their participation in this innovation. After intensive research work, their company could develop and implement a persuasive concept for solar power generation including - storage, which would make an essential contribution to achieving energy independence. The fact that their work was recognised with such a highly esteemed prize encourages both to research even more in this area in order to further promote the (private) usage of renewable energies.

The German Solar Prize of EUROSOLAR e.V., awarded annually since 1994, has a goal of increasing public interest in renewable energies. To achieve this goal, the Association has set itself apart through innovative projects, initiatives and commitments by communities, companies, associations as well as individual persons who have had special achievements involving the use and application of renewable energies. This year's prices will be awarded as part of a formal awards ceremony on 05 November 2011 in the historic city hall banquet room in Saarbrücken.

SunStrom Established 2 MW Solar Power Plant in Great Britain

The solar power specialist SunStrom established its first PV solar power facility in Great Britain, in Somerset county. The 2 MW solar park "Summerway Drove Extension" was created in an area over 5 hectares. In 31 rows there are a total of 7,600  SOLARWATT mono-crystalline solar modules are mounted on one of the free-field mounting rack systems developed by SunStrom itself. The solar power produced from the solar power plant in an environmentally-friendly way is supplied to the mains utility and makes it possible to supply up to 850 four-person households a year.

Symbolic Solar Panel Mounting for Start of Construction of Solar PV Power Facility on Kamenz Airfield

At the Kamenz airfield, located about 30 kilometers northeast of Dresden, the construction of a 9 Megawatts free-field solar PV power plant started today. For this purpose both Mayor of Kamenz Roland Dantz and District Administrator of Bautzen Michael Harig symbolically installed the first solar panel. During the next few weeks SunStrom will install more than 38,000 monocrystalline solar modules on a 18.5 hectares sized area for the general contractor SOLARWATT, solar module manufacturer based in Dresden.

With this project – one of the largest solar power plants of Saxony – the awarding authority and operator ewag kamenz AG (energy and water provider) supports the expansion of areas used for the renewable energy production.
